A few weeks ago my friend asked me if my daughter Emily and our St Bernard Delilah would like to go over to her house and make doggie treats with her. Of course Emily was thrilled, she loves dogs and was very excited to make these treats.
Well yesterday was the day. Tammy(you can link to her blog here: Write Steps) came over and picked up Emily and Delilah and they headed over to her house to make some dog treats and let the dogs play. She said the dogs did very well together, besides the fact that Delilah seemed to end up in their back yard pond.
Boedy and Ladybug sat perfectly still on each side of Emily, but Delilah was a little more excited and we couldn’t get her to sit nicely for a photo.
They made two types of treats, Organic Peanut Butter Dog Cookies and Doggie Biscuits. They turned out great and looked good enough for human consumption. Recipes below:
Organic Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits
- 2 cups whole-wheat organic flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 cup organic peanut butter
- 1 cup organic milk
Preheat oven to 375’F. In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk, then add dry ingredients and mix well. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Bake for 20 minutes on a greased baking sheet until lightly brown. Cool on a rack, then store in an airtight container. NOTE: These cookies burn easily.
Doggie Biscuits
- 3 1/2 cups whole-wheat organic flour
- 2 cups organic rolled oats
- 1 cup organic milk
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 1/2 cup meat drippings or organic olive oil
Dissolve bouillon cubes in hot water. Add milk and drippings and beat. In a separate bowl, mix flour and oatmeal. Pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients and mix well. Press onto an ungreased cookie sheet and cut into shapes desired. Bake at 300 for 1 hour. Turn off heat and leave in oven to harden. Refrigerate after baking.
The dogs loved these treats, Emily gave them so many that I am sure they had stomach aches for the rest of the night.
Isn’t Ladybug cute?
Great pics. I’m glad I finally found your other blog. I’ll add it to my blog roll.
Thanks again for letting Emily come and great job on your crayon rolls!
