Ok I may be the only one that is excited about this but I found my very own sock monkey socks at the goodwill. Yep, they were brand new, never worn, ready to sew on a face and stuff to make it look like a sock monkey. I still need to find a pattern but am just so excited to get these started. Watch out my friends, one of these may be coming to you for your next birthday! I look at these socks and can just see the sock monkey smiling back at me.

I found this vintage slip at a thrift store a while back. I fell in love with the lace at the bottom, its so feminine. My first thoughts were to use it under a dress, cut off the top part and put some elastic where the waist should be. That way the lace could show under a dress. But I am not sure right now. I have seen some people make some adjustments to slips and wear them as dresses. I don’t know if I am that brave but I am sure I don’t want to cut it apart until I know exactly what I should do. Any ideas?

My friend asked if I wanted to hit the bins with her last night. I was so excited, cause its been a while and she is the only person I know that can dig through those bins with such force and reckless abandon as me. We did a great job and left with 26 lbs of stuff(or crap as some like to say).
Here are a few of the things I found that I am excited about.
The mint green flower material is going to be used for more of those Christmas Tree ornaments but these ones will be year round trees. The frame is for my cork pin board that I am excited to make.
This vintage pillow case is so feminine and dainty, it was finished but never used, still has the dark marks where they sewed and was never washed. I absolutely love it!
The ribbon is just great for any use. I am sure it will be used for gift wrapping.

Lately when I arrive home after work I find my daughter sitting on the couch watching Friends. I love to sit and watch Friends with my girls but sometimes I think we may watch the show a bit too much. For example on Sunday we were sitting at a restaurant eating lunch and our 12 year old asks; “What does a restraining order mean?” My husband and I look at each other, wondering where she heard this word, so I asked, “Why are you asking?” and her reply, “well remember when Phoebe gets a restraining order?”. We started laughing. Or another good one would be when she told us; “I had a dream and Joey and Chandler were in it”. See my dilemma?
So yesterday, I arrived home to find my little girl watching Friends again, I told her that I was going to the thrift store and asked her if she wanted to join me, in which she responded with a big NO. So I told her to get her homework done while I was gone and went on my way. Her last words were, “even though I am not going with you, you will find stuff for me too, right?” Funny girl.
I had a purpose for going to the thrift store, I was looking for certain items, but did not find a single thing on my list, but I did find some things that I am sure I needed.
I did end up with some great clothes too, but will have to model those for you at a later date. Enjoy!

Well I made it to the thrift store a couple of times this week, had to find some last minute pieces for my daughters Halloween costume. My little miss Holly Golightly is almost set. Still not sure how we will get her hair up in a bee hive but we will figure something out. And of course I found some items for myself too. I love the shirts I got but the pair of pants I bought are a tad bit tight. The place I bought that pants at didn’t have a dressing room so I had to just guess and they are so cute, just a little obscene if I wore them out of the house. Now trying to think of what I can do with them, maybe make them into a skirt. We will soon see.

I found this very cute brick red bookshelf at the thrift store, paid a whopping 3.00 for it and brought it home, totally excited to get it put in our kitchen. Our house is always covered with piles of books due to the fact that my husband is working towards his doctorate and is constantly buying new books for his classes. I am not joking when I say covered, we move books so we can all sit at the table to eat. And then the professors seem to think its a good idea to recommend books too, which means more books being bought. So the piles seem to keep growing, and I am left wondering, how many more bookshelves can actually fit in our house? I’m sure one or two more.
Anyhow lets get on to this cute bookshelf -
So here’s the sad part I brought this in, put some books in it and now I want to add feet to it so it sits off the ground a bit. Yep more work but I think it will look so much better. Do you have any ideas for me? What style of feet would you add or would you leave it without? I was thinking of painting the feet black, what do you think?

I wanted to start thrifty Thursday this week on Thursday of course but here it is Friday and I haven’t gotten to it yet, I guess that is kind of how it works some weeks, a little late but as they say ‘better late than never’, right?

I did a little shopping today at my favorite thrift store – the Red, White & Blue Thrift Store in Gladstone, Oregon. After a nice lunch with my mom, I decided I would stop by the Red, White & Blue to see what I could find. They have the best deals in thrift shopping with specials for everyone everyday. And apparently on Wednesdays its Senior Citizen day and they get 50% off everything. I was so bummed when I heard that because I had just dropped my mother off at her house. But it didn’t stop me from finding some great deals without the discount.

Everybody needs a pair of black heels, ones that make you feel like you can take on the world, ones that make your legs look just a little bit longer (and of course a bit sexier), and ones that can go from casual to formal with a switch of clothes. All of this in one pair of shoes equals the perfect pair of shoes!
So a little while back I was in another city a bit early for an appointment and I found myself waiting at the Goodwill, it was the only place that was close by. And of course I found these shoes and the best part was that their tag was the color of the day making them half price. So the perfect pair of black heels at half price = one happy lady and only $2.50 out of my pocket.

I was browsing through the latest Pottery Barn, (rarely do I ever buy, I’m more of a browser) to get some ideas on decorating and I came across this very unique chandelier. They have used “re-purposed” green wine bottles connected to what looks like a metal ring with holes for the neck of the bottle to fit in.
As much as I like the idea of Pottery Barn recycling and making this great chandelier, the price tag is a bit steep making it a bit out of my price range.
Here are some options for making your own.
From OregonLive.com you can find instructions on how to Make a Wine Bottle Chandelier. The great thing about this chandelier is that they used a recycled bi-fold door from a closet I assume. And you aren’t limited to using wine or beer bottles only, you can use all sorts of glass bottles.
