I know your thinking this is a scrap book store, but no, you, my friend would be so wrong. This store is so much better than that. SCRAP which stands for School & Community Reuse Action Project, is a store that sells recycled craft supplies. I met this lady last night who told made these cute little tuxedos from items she got at SCRAP. The items are from people who give, who have left overs or from places like the bicycle helmet company who donated the helmet pads that my new friend used on the tuxes. I am so excited to check this place out.

I used this spray adhesive instead of the glue gun cause the adhesive makes the fabric lay flat.

I saw this in my friends kitchen, she had 3 jars that had chalk board paint squares on them that she bought from Ikea. You could fill them with whatever you wanted and just write the name of the product with chalk on the little square. So I figured it couldn't be that difficult to do, could it? Usually when I say that it turns into a project from the pits of hell but much to my surprise it wasn't – In fact this was the easiest project I have ever done. I'm looking forward to doing this with more jars, even filling them with gifts for Christmas.

Did you know Christmas is only 84 days away? I have a lot to do before than…ok now I am distressed, am I going to get all my Christmas projects done?

I am excited to actually get my hands on a copy of this book. It is definitely going on my wish list for Christmas, although I am hoping to be able to find it used. Did you know Christmas is only 84 days away? I have a lot to do before than…ok now I am distressed, am I going to get all my Christmas projects done?

Anyhow on to this book – Re-Bound shows readers how to take every day materials from around the house, flea markets and thrift stores, and hardware and office supply stores, and turn them into fabulous books. Instead of saying, "What can I make a book out of," readers will be thinking, "What can't I make a book out of?" In Re-Bound, a vintage souvenir wallet becomes a photo album. Last year's trendy sweater becomes a take-along journal. Even potato chip bags get a second life as a handy pocket notebook. This fun pursuit is economical as well as ecological. A variety of attractive, uncomplicated bindings, how-to instructions, and step-outs bring each project to life.

Whats better than recycling and re-purposing items around your house? Thanks Joanna for sharing this book with me.

Last summer, while visiting the Saturday Market in Portland, Or. I came across this lady selling tank tops that she had so creatively sewed handkerchiefs to. From ladies sizes on down to little girls sizes, and she even was selling little tank dresses with beautiful hankies sewed on the shoulders. I have been searching for her site on the internet but for the life of me I can't remember her name.

I thought it probably wouldn't be to tough to do, so I started cutting and sewing and here is what I came up with.

Cut the Handkerchief in half diagonally.

Buy a tank top, or use one you already have.

Pin the hanky on both sides and make sure they line up.

Then sew it on and your done.

Its that easy.

A friend of mine over at theWeeklyBrew.com gave me a bunch of Beer Bottle Caps a few weeks back. He had seen lots of items made with bottle caps on the internet so he immediately thought of me and asked if I would like to try something crafty with them. I looked on the different sites that I love for ideas and on Etsy I saw these cute magnets. Here is what my girls and I came up with.

Supplies -

Glue Gun

Buttons

Magnets

Bottle Caps

(optional – Tulle, mod podge, magazine clippings)

Find about 3 or 4 buttons that you like together and stack them on top of each other. Make sure they gradually get smaller in size as you stack them, so that each color can be seen.

Hot glue the buttons together.

Hot glue the buttons to the middle of the inside of the Bottle Cap.

Hot glue the magnet to the top of the Bottle Cap

This one was one that my daughter made, she cut out a picture from a magazine and glued it into the bottle cap using mod podge. Then she took some tulle and gathered it with some string and glued it to the back of the bottle cap with the hot glue gun and put the magnet on top of the tulle so that the gathered part is covered with the magnet.

I have so many t-shirts that I never wear and would love to give them a purpose.

I know you've got them, lurking in drawers, the back of the closet, in the "giveaway" pile: those T-shirts that are, for various reasons, both unwearable and indispensable. They are too small, too big, too short, have a stain, a hole, or some other flaw, and yet you cannot bear to part with them. I took my old t-shirts and gave them new life. They were reincarnated as underwear. From Supernatural.com

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

– T-shirt
– Thin elastic cord (48" or enough to go around both legs and your waist)
– 6"x4" of clean fabric, a thin cotton knit (optional)
- Sewing machine, thread, scissors, etc.
– Big piece of paper (2' x 4' -ish) or enlarged pattern printout.

Click here for the pattern(right hand side half way down the page).

You know the mesh bags you buy onions, fruit or potatoes in? Don't throw those away. You can re-use them.

Here is a list of some of the many ways you can re-use your mesh bags instead of throwing them away.

1. My personal favorite – Dish scrubbies! Directions below:

Cut the mesh bag into three 6 inch by 72 inch strips and lay the strips on top of each other evenly.

Take a large needle, thread it and begin sewing down the middle of the strips in long basting stitches.

Secure by wrapping the thread around the center of the bunch, then tie into a tight knot. Trim the ends and separate the layers so they make a ball.

When you reach the end, hold the thread in one hand and pull back on the nylon net to form a bunch of nylon net.

2. To Hold Sand Toys -Carefully cut the top open making sure the bag is in tact and store wet sand toys in the mesh bag, making it possible for the sand toys to dry by the time you get home from the beach. Also can be used in the bathtub for toys to dry out in after bathtime.

3. Use the big mesh bags for camping. When washing dishes, put the dishes in the mesh bags, and hang them from a tree until dry.

4. In the shower you can use those little slivers of soap that usually get thrown out and put them in a bag and use it for exfoliating.

5. How about an Earring Holder? Over at Our Little Apartment she gives you instructions on how to make your very own earring holder using a plastic mesh bag and a picture frame.
