My daughter has become a fan of Audrey Hepburn, what little girl hasn't, even I am a fan. So she asked if she could dress up like Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's for Halloween. I am looking forward to helping her with this.

My little girl has this exact photo on her wall and we are working on finding all she needs to look like Audrey in this photo. I am excited to do this because most everything she will need she already has, except for the long black gloves. Oh and the fact that her hair is very short may be a problem trying to make it look like a bee hive, but we will give it our best go. Check back for a photo of my daughter as Holly Golightly.

Here is what you need, you can be as extravagant or simple as you want and still get a great result:

Pearls – I would suggest a few strands and add a faux diamond broach to the front of the pearls.

Little black dress

Black long finger gloves

Tiara

Black heels

That's it, simple!

Oh I am so embarrassed to admit this but here goes….I still have Christmas gifts to make and give out from last year! Ok close your mouth, I know its hard to believe, but I do know that I am a tad bit behind.

Yes its true, last Christmas I promised each of my nieces, sisters and mother an apron. I have 9 nieces, 4 sisters and one mother. I completed some of the aprons, but the sad part is that I am not sure who I have left to make an apron for. I do have a bit of an excuse though, my father was in an out of the hospital the months leading up to Christmas and passed away on the 23rd of December. Wow still brings tears to my eyes.

Well this morning as I was laying in bed, I spotted my beloved A is for Apron book sitting next to the sewing machine, it was calling to me(I am not the only one this happens to, am I?), so I opened it up(haven't looked at it since last December) and my mind started going, thinking of all kinds of great aprons I could make. The creativity is flowing and I am excited to get the aprons going and to their rightful owners(if I can figure out who they are).

And it doesn't help that I have a bunch of over ripe bananas on the counter too, waiting for me to make them into a wonderful banana bread from a recipe I got from my friend Bianca. Dang too much to do today, better get moving! Check back for the finished aprons and banana bread recipe.

Our long weekend in San Francisco was a success, with only a few tears shed and some of those shed by my dh when he realized that none of his girls are morning people. But that's what road trips and family time are for, learning and learning to love. Heck life is about learning and learning to love. Here is what I learned about San Francisco.

1. I want to go back! It is a beautiful city and since I am trying to learn how to use my camera, I had plenty of opportunities to use my new found camera skills, and as you can see they are not that great yet.

2. San Francisco was the first large city to start a curbside composting program. OK so this may not excite you but I find it exciting when cities take charge and make changes for the better of the environment.

3. If you get out of the tourist area there is a lot of fun and good food to be had. We went down to Pier 39 once just to check it out but our hotel was out amongst the houses and we were within walking distance to a ton of great restaurants, shops and the beach.

4. San Francisco is full of people from all over the world. At any given time you are going to meet someone from somewhere far away, making every smile an opportunity to introduce yourself and find out where they are from.

5. You CAN'T eat your way through the city in a weekend let alone two years. Our lovely waiter at Rose's Cafe said he has lived in San Francisco for two years and is still eating his way through the city.

6. There is no shortage of used clothing stores in San Francisco. We visited a couple places and the thing I noticed that was different from Portland was that the prices were much higher. They did have a nice variety of vintage clothes from the 50's and 60's which was so fun to browse through.
