My daughter started a project, a very BIG project, one in which I was overwhelmed for her. Well now I am overwhelmed for myself as I take on this project. I am not even sure where to begin…which scares me even more. She wants to make her own prom dress. She has an idea in mind and we have looked at many dresses online and she has picked some that she likes, but in those choices are my fears. I have a fear that I wont be able to complete it, or that it wont be what she likes. If there's one thing that I don't want to do, it would be letting my daughter down. Being some what of a beginning sewer, I am not skilled in the ways of tulle. She went out and bought a whole bolt of tulle, yes a whole bolt! Who buys a whole bolt of tulle? Apparently my daughter does. Wow! Any helpful ideas on how to accomplish this task, please share them!

I am not even sure where to begin…which scares me even more. She wants to make her own prom dress. She has an idea in mind and we have looked at many dresses online and she has picked some that she likes, but in those choices are my fears. Apparently my daughter does. Wow! Any helpful ideas on how to accomplish this task, please share them!

Here is a dress she likes. It was created by a local artist Sonia Kasparian, of Urchin Design. She sells her beautiful dresses at Flutter, a store in Portland, Or. We have visited this store many times and drooled over the amazing work she does.

It certainly is beautiful. I have been searching for wedding gowns or prom dresses with beaded detail for the bodice.

Now I know our creation wont be this spectacular but something close would suffice.

Any help or suggestions are welcome! Please, I really would love to hear your thoughts.

The overwhelming responsibilities have been haunting me lately, I have thought about what I need to do so much that I am dreaming about it. Decorations, invitations, food, house space, redoing the yard, too many things to think about and really not a lot of time. Lately I have spent a lot of time looking at wedding sites and have come up with some great ideas on decorating and invitations and I am excited about those possibilities. I know they are wedding sites but you would be amazed at how just changing up one aspect of it or color and they can be used for any occasion.

I found this very cute brick red bookshelf at the thrift store, paid a whopping 3.00 for it and brought it home, totally excited to get it put in our kitchen. Our house is always covered with piles of books due to the fact that my husband is working towards his doctorate and is constantly buying new books for his classes. I am not joking when I say covered, we move books so we can all sit at the table to eat. And then the professors seem to think its a good idea to recommend books too, which means more books being bought. So the piles seem to keep growing, and I am left wondering, how many more bookshelves can actually fit in our house? I'm sure one or two more.

Anyhow lets get on to this cute bookshelf -

I love the red color - it matches perfect with my kitchen.

Its a bit short and off center because of the heater vent.

So here's the sad part I brought this in, put some books in it and now I want to add feet to it so it sits off the ground a bit. Yep more work but I think it will look so much better. Do you have any ideas for me? What style of feet would you add or would you leave it without? I was thinking of painting the feet black, what do you think?

A while back I mentioned how my closet door was broke and how my dh hasn't had enough time to fix it. Well I figured I am a pretty intelligent woman, I can handle the task, right? So with all that confidence I decided to go for it! And this is what I found after I took the door down, the bottom screw that holds the door up off the floor has gone clear through the hole with no way to fix it. Well with no way that I could fix it easily.

While I was laying in bed this morning I thought (and dreamt, because I was in and out of sleep) about what I could do instead of having doors there. Here are some ideas I came up with it. Still thinking about it though, so any suggestions you may have would be of great help.

This has a hidden(I think expandable) curtain rod.

I like the idea of patching pieces of fabric together, I could use up a lot of my scraps.

I like how tall these are and that they go beyond the closet area, making it easier get into the closet.
What do you think? Give me some ideas, more pictures, anything… I really need some help!
