This past weekend I visited an estate sale near our house. It was a huge barn filled with vintage goodies. I had my eye on a lot of different things but had to scale down a bit. This lady must have been a sewer because she had a plethora of vintage fabric. But I did not leave with any fabric because I already have too much and until I work my way through what I have, I wont be buying anymore.
But I did find some really cool things:
- I found vintage croceheted lace and these 3 keys.
- I also found these great coat buttons, which I’m so excited to use on some necklaces.
I also found rice paper hankies, which I had never heard of before, and I found a nice wooden croquet set that looks like it was from the 70’s. I hope you can get out to some estate or garage sales this summer, you are guaranteed to find some amazing deals and items.
Last week on June 23 I posted a photo of my terribly messy closet and today I am sharing a photo of how it looks now, with its renewed life as an easy to access closet. Kari over at Twin Mama Loves is doing a Messy Monday post in which I commented and decided to share my mess with her too. I don’t know why I feel the need to share this mess with my little corner of the world, but I think it must be good therapy if we can work through these things together with other people that are facing the same difficulties. Lets all keep the cleaning going!
Here is a reminder of what my closet looked like before ~
So here is the photo of how the closet looks now, but bear in mind, all we have is this tiny closet and half of it is my husbands. So not a lot of places for clothes in our room. I did get rid of a lot of clothes and arranged the hung clothes in different groups such as; dresses, skirts, shirts and coats. I would love to get a shoe rack for the floor too, or shoe cubes, maybe it would give me more room. I have also seen those dividers that go on shelves. That may help my clothes stay neatly stacked. If you have suggestions on how better to use this space – please leave me a comment below.
I was NOT looking forward to this task but I knew that it had to be done. In fact it needed to be done so badly, that every-time I would open up the closet door clothes would fall out. And it didn’t help that recently my husband broke the closet door and hasn’t been around to help me fix it. So the clothes lay piled on the floor in front of the closet.
I can’t believe I am sharing this photo of my very disorganized closet with you, but here it is:
This Saturday I’m going to have a garage sale with my niece. She recently lost her job and needs to earn some money.
I am excited about cleaning out the house. My DH almost flipped out this morning when I told him I was going to have a garage sale this Saturday. With the guests(friends from Ireland) staying at our house right now, he thinks its too much work, in not enough time. But surprisingly I am up for it, due to the fact that the mess is driving me crazy and I would like to have some spending money for our upcoming trip to San Francisco.
Come back in the next day or two for the The Closet Makeover – After photo.
