About

Recycled Lovelies came about because of my love for the environment and the difference I found I could make by buying used and recycling.

I love recycled clothes, vintage clothes and revamping old clothes into something new! I have made a commitment not to buy new clothes for a year and want to show readers that this can be done, while still looking great. I also want to share my ideas of how to up-cycle clothes into something new.

My favorite clothes are feminine, vintage items from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I love being an individual and owning something that no one else has.

I enjoy sewing, but have not mastered this skill yet; in fact, I have a long way to go.  But because of this new found love of sewing and this new recycle-buying venture, I have decided to make all my gifts from recycled items. My latest creations have been purses and aprons. Some would refer to this, making something new out of something old, as re-purposing or up-cycling.

Buying used is not a new concept for me, growing up we bought used all the time, with 5 kids and not enough money to go around, we wore hand-me-downs and thrift store duds often.  Although to be honest, I didn’t find it appealing back then.

But now I do! Here's to the beginning of recycledlovelies adventures.

Hi, Deanna!

Thank you so much for mentioning my book "Re-Bound" on your blog–which is terrific, by the way! The tutorials are great!

I'd love to send you a copy of the book. It's going through its second printing right now so it may take a couple of weeks, but I'd be happy to get one out to you.

Thanks again!

All the best,

Jeannine

Hi Deanna-
Last night my family and I went to a New Years Eve party with all of our friends. I made the party poppers with my daughter and we had a blast making them. We used sparkly confetti and I know next year I will buy the non sparkly kind because tons of little specs of sparkles floated all around my kitchen. When we popped them at midnight at the party and all the glitter went everywhere I saw the hostess give a little grunt and I told my husband that I will be staying after the party is over to help clean up all the glitter. Besides that I hope you and your family have a great new year!

Yes she really enjoyed it. It was a fun experience watching her make them and helping her. She just turned 5 a month ago and know she thinks she can conquer the world!

Have a wonderful 2010,
Lauren

I absolutely love the candle holders you made! They are adorable! I just wanted to tell you about this cool website I found called Freerice. For every question you get right it gives 10 grains of rice to the hungry. It is a great organization and you can put up one of their banners on your blog if you like it!
