DIY Cereal Box Gift Tags/Ornaments

As you know recycling here is, well, not as popular as in Oregon where I am from. I cringe at the thought of throwing all these items that could be recycled in the trash. So I have come up with another way to use that trash.

I saw initial ornaments/ gift tags on pintrest and came up with my own version.

Open up your cereal box.

Trace your letters onto the inside of the box.

Cut out your letters.

Modpodge or glue old book pages or craft paper onto each letter.

Decorate with glitter and punch a hole in the top.

Add a star or other shape if you want.

Its that simple! Enjoy!

Hey! I don’t know if you remember me, but my husband and I were in orientation at Boone with you and your husband. We’re still in Cambodia. I love getting your blog because you have some great suggestions for crafting in a third-world country. I have actually been saving my cereal boxes and other things because we don’t have recycling and I hate throwing them away. I’ve been looking for ideas to use them. So, thanks for the inspiration. 🙂

When I read the title of your post, I thought, “No way that can look good.” You have proven me wrong. Your cereal box ornaments are pretty! Good job, D!

I’m in Oregon and my husband and I have talked about moving occasionally but I think there would be some culture shock if we did. I do appreciate all the eco-friendly aspects of living here and that would be a significant consideration in selecting a new destination.
