DIY Ruffle Shower Curtain

I have admired the ruffle shower curtain from Anthropologie for the last year but the price is a bit much to spend on a shower curtain. I figured it was worth me trying it on my own. I really like how this turned out and it was fairly simple, time consuming, but simple.

For some reason I could never get my girls to use flat sheets and after 10 years of trying and every morning finding the flat sheets squished at the bottom of the bed, I finally gave up and put the flat sheets away. But today they came to great use. I pulled out all my twin flat sheets and started cutting strips to sew onto the old shower curtain. I used the nice clean edges for the bottom of the ruffles and layered all the way up. It was super easy just took time to sew the long stitch, pull to ruffle, pin to the old shower curtain and then sew on. I love how it turned out. If you dont have old sheets, you can always go to your local thrift store and find some pretty vintage sheets to use for ruffles. You can really cover any color or design of shower curtain.

Try this and send me pictures, I would love to see how yours turns out!

Hee hee! That is really fun!

So… to ruffle, you sew directly onto your fabric one straight long stitch and pull one of the threads until it ruffles? I didn’t know that. I’ll have to try something small and give it a try!

Yes Becca your exactly right. Its easier than it sounds but with big ruffles like this, I had to lay them on the shower curtain and pull so I would know when to stop ruffling. šŸ™‚

That is awesome!! I love it!! Going to share it with my neighbor who sews. I sure wish I knew how to sew. šŸ™
