DIY Ribbon & Button Broach

I love buttons, I love ribbon, so what could be better than combining the two together? I was looking at French Picnic and yesterday they showed a ribbon and button broach that they had made. I instantly thought of the ribbon and the gorgeous vintage button I had that would go great together. So I tried it. It didn't turn out the same but I am happy with how it turned out. And I have to say it was a bit more difficult than I thought it would be.

Supplies:

  • Ribbon
  • Button
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Needle and Thread

1. I took a needle and thread and folded the ribbon over at different lengths and continued until the desired ribbon length was finished. Pulling the thread through the ribbon I tightened it and tied the two ends together. This was the tough part, trying to lay the ribbon flat so it flared out all around.

2. I then layed the button in the middle of the ribbon and using my needle and thread I sewed it to the ribbon. I also took the glue gun and glued the ribbon onto the back of the button to make it stronger.

3. On the back I took a safety pin and sewed it onto the ribbons. I also took the hot glue gun and glued it to the ribbon and cut out a circle of material and laid it over the pin so you didn't see the glue underneath.
