DIY Recycled New Years Party Poppers
If you are like me, you probably have a bunch of wrapping paper from Christmas that you watched people unwrap and grabbed when they weren’t looking. It always gets me when I see someone unwrap a gift and wad up the paper and throw it away when it barely had any creases or tape marks in it. So yes, I pulled some silver wrapping paper out of the burn pile that I thought would be great to use for New Years Poppers.
This year we are spending New Years at a friends rental house in Sunriver. It will just be our family of 4 and we are so looking forward to this time away, where there will hopefully be snow. I decided to make these poppers for us and include some fun things in them.
These are super easy to make, even the kids can do them.
Supplies Needed:
- Toilet Paper Rolls
- Wrapping Paper(preferably recycled)
- Ribbon(recycled from presents)
- Tape
- Scissors
- Confetti, Metallic Shred(I had this left over from a wedding shower), Goodies, Candy, New Years Fortune(this can be a fun one, making up your own fortunes), etc..

Silver is perfect for New Years.

1. Tape the wrapping paper to the toilet paper tube.

2. Using ribbon, tie a bow at the end of the tube.

3. Fill the other end with all your little goodies along with your confetti or metallic shred(like I used).

4. Using ribbon, tie another bow at the other end and you are finished.

Cute!
I wanted to tell you that Bree and I made your candle jar / potpourri things when she was home. They turned out really nice, but what was so special was sitting at the table with my daughter working on a craft, like when she was a little girl. I finally posted pictures of the finished product on my blog. If you scroll to the bottom of my 12-28 post, you’ll see pictures.
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for posting about an easy craft. It was such a special treat to make these with BreeAnna!
Tammy, I am so glad you liked it and that you got to spend some time with BreeAnna.
I did this one year for Christmas, since it’s a family tradition. I like your version though, because I went to great lengths to find the sticks that “pop” inside (had to buy 300 I think for 9.99) and made the tissue paper hats. Those two things alone made it such a hassle but I had a ton of fun finding little prizes and jokes to include.
