Easy DIY String of Lights Garland
A friend of mine showed me her finds from a Christmas Bazaar that she went to on Saturday. One of the items were a string of Christmas lights with scraps of green & red colored fabric tied around it from one end to the other. It was such a cute idea and when I started thinking about it, this is an idea that could be adapted and used as decor at any time of the year. Even my daughter said she wanted one for her dorm room. How fun would that be to make one in her school colors.
This week I will be attending a baby shower for my friend who is having twins(1 boy and 1 girl) and I decided that making a string of lights with blue and pink scrap material tied onto it would be a perfect addition to their baby room. I love the way a string of lights makes a room look so soft and glowy, perfect for a babies room, could even replace a night light.
Materials Needed:
- Scissors or Rotary Cutter (which is on my Christmas list)
- Fabric
- String of lights

1. Cut fabric into 1" X 6" strips (depends on how long of a light strip you have to how many you need)

2. Tie fabric strips around the cords between each light, I did 4 in between, but you could do 5.

3. Plug it in and hang it where you desire.

Do the lights get hot next to the fabric? I want my Emily to be safe!
Tammy,
No worries, the lights don’t give off enough heat. They are totally and completely safe. Thanks for your concern though.
Thanks for the lights! They are awesome! We’re looking forward to using them to decorate our house for the arrival of the little ones! You are creative and a great friend!
