Replacing the Closet Doors with Curtains

I finally did it, I took the doors off the closet and put up a curtain rod and curtains. Ok so you may not be so impressed but let me just say, I have had a broken closet door for almost 4 months.

I thought for sure my dh was going to have a heart attack if he walked in the bedroom when it was half done but oddly enough when I called him in to help he didn’t say a thing. I totally didn’t want to ask for his help, some days I just need to do it myself but standing on a stool and trying to drill a straight hole in the wall proved to be a bit difficult, so I called in the reinforcements to help.

After he drilled the hole, he stood there with the drill in his hand asking me what else he could do. I just looked at him, smiled and said you can go watch TV, I want to finish the rest by myself. So off he went. And I finished up and cleaned and here is what I came up with.

These are sheer curtains that I already had - went back and forth between red and these but these brightened up the room best.

Another shot, excuse the mess under the sewing machine. I made the curtain rod go out farther past the left side of the closet so you could pull the curtains out of the way.

What do you think?

The curtain looks great. It looks like it is a craft room. That is what I have and the bifold door has been broken for years. I was tired of fighting it so I took the half that doesn’t work down. Now it looks funny with 1/2 a door up. I was considering mirrored doors but want to be able to store my sewing machine and I don’t think I can wheel it over the track. So the curtain idea sounded good to me. I like how you have it over the door opening.
