DIY Holly Golightly Halloween Costume
My daughter has become a fan of Audrey Hepburn, what little girl hasn’t, even I am a fan. So she asked if she could dress up like Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s for Halloween. I am looking forward to helping her with this.

My little girl has this exact photo on her wall and we are working on finding all she needs to look like Audrey in this photo. I am excited to do this because most everything she will need she already has, except for the long black gloves. Oh and the fact that her hair is very short may be a problem trying to make it look like a bee hive, but we will give it our best go. Check back for a photo of my daughter as Holly Golightly.
Here is what you need, you can be as extravagant or simple as you want and still get a great result:
- Pearls – I would suggest a few strands and add a faux diamond broach to the front of the pearls.
- Little black dress
- Black long finger gloves
- Tiara
- Black heels
That’s it, simple!

I’ve got those gloves if you need to borrow them.
Ummm, Holly wouldn’t be caught dead with a diamond before she’s forty!
Actually, I went crazy looking for the gloves at so many stores, only to find them at a second hand store a block away from my house for under $2. I had them washed thoroughly of course, but since I’m only wearing them for halloween, I’m not that picky. The hair dilemma can be solved with one of those scrunchies that seem to be made out of hair. Revlon does them. Just pull her hair in a ponytail as high as you can, and twist it in a bun and tie the hair scrunchie around it. Good luck!
