DIY Recycled Wine Bottle Chandelier

I was browsing through the latest Pottery Barn, (rarely do I ever buy, I’m more of a browser) to get some ideas on decorating and I came across this very unique chandelier. They have used “re-purposed” green wine bottles connected to what looks like a metal ring with holes for the neck of the bottle to fit in.

As much as I like the idea of Pottery Barn recycling and making this great chandelier, the price tag is a bit steep making it a bit out of my price range.

Here are some options for making your own.

From OregonLive.com you can find instructions on how to Make a Wine Bottle Chandelier.  The great thing about this chandelier is that they used a recycled bi-fold door from a closet I assume. And you aren’t limited to using wine or beer bottles only, you can use all sorts of glass bottles.

Where do you go to have the bottles cut? Couldn’t you just modify a strip light?

Joyce,

You could always do it yourself http://hackalife.com/tutorial-how-to-cut-a-beer-bottle-in-half/ or have someone do it for you…not sure where to go to get it done though.

And yes you could modify a strip light.

Ooooooh, I have been hounding my huby to make this for me! I saw the same one in PB, and thought the same about the price tag. How great that I can now point him the the right direction to get it done!!!

I thought I recognized the recycled one: I’d seen it the in the Oregonian’s Homes & Gardens of the Northwest magazine.

Got any ideas for how to use wine bottles as garden lights? We have a plethora of wine bottles! :o )

I use an old wet saw to cut my bottles, like a wet saw for cutting tile. I got it from my dad. For somebody who doesn’t have one… you can rent one for a few hours from an equipment rental store, which isn’t too expensive and cut all the bottles you have stocked up at once.

Hey there, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, fantastic blog!
