Felted Wool Mittens

I told you I would show you how my felted wool mittens turned out, so here are some photos. The first pair I really like, the second pair not so much. For some reason the pink and green ones didn't felt very well and they were much more stretchy than the other sweater when sewing them.

I used two old sweaters from Gap and washed them in hot water and essentially that is how you felt wool. Here are instructions from eHow.com – How to Felt Wool.

I had a problem with making them look rounded when turned right side out so I decided to just sew the wrong sides together and do a blanket stitch to finish the edges. Future Girl Craft Blog has a Tutorial: Hand Sew Felt Using a Blanket Stitch.  It is a fairly easy stitch and it really does add the finishing touch my mittens needed.
